Body weight rep ranges

Jake Reed 5 years ago updated by Tony Degennaro 5 years ago 3

On most of the body weight movements the second warm-up set is very close to the working set (using rest pause). So close in fact that if I were to do it, I wouldn't be able to finish the working set. I've resorted to doing the working set reps in the second warm-up set, followed by the second warm-up reps in my working set and just saying how many more I could have done based on my feel from the working set. I could adjust the reps accordingly but it seems like that would negatively influence my progress.

Hi Jake,

Great point. I agree warm-ups for bw exercises need a little work.

How about we lower reps?

Lowering reps would definitely help. However, as another thread has suggested, being able to remove a warm-up set would address both ideas.

I find that the lighter weight is fine for warmups in the beginning of the session, but as the workout continues, I need less warm ups.
