Make the design more simple, flat, and focused on the task
The app is feeling increasingly over featured. That is, there are so many improvements it's losing that simple feel the original had. It was essentially a “modern fluid UI” Simple, flat, and focused in the task.
That is, what do I do, how much and how many. Day to day that is the core value for me. The rest timer and the plate calculator were excellent adds and generally do not did not interfere in the flow.
Much of the ability to create, manage, change, and edit things are nice but are only useful occasionally yet they are in every screen. I admit my bias for doing edit like planning things before or after a workout and never during.
The latest UI update seemed more clutter than value to me. The body part image isn’t, for me, useful DURING a workout The Font increase for the weight and reps was welcome (I’m old and prefer to not wear my glasses while I lift :)
I’m neutral on the x/n tracking. Its small.
The hard thing to “fix/adjust” is the sliding panels. When viewing and entire workout, I like it. During the workout I would prefer the screen be exclusively a single thing… the weight, the reps, and the rest timer in between.
None of these are fatal just my preference for designs that are simple and focused.

I mean I’m no graphic designer and I don’t use other apps but out of what I saw they just more “advance” look wise if that makes sense - DR. muscle kind of looks like Doom the game… first release comparing to competitors.
- Perhaps if the graphic showing the excessive would always stay at the top of the screen whichever round of reps you’re doing instead of having to scroll up to make sure you’re doing it correctly
- Clearer grip visuals
- Previous workout reps should be more visible
A few times after the reps app showed “you did more reps or more weight last time” which is demotivating as if I knew (which now you have to scroll down to see) I would either do same weight and more reps or more weight etc. I’ll keep messaging once I’ll come across anything else
