Add "resistance bands" to the "show me only exercises I'm equipped for" under the Home Equipment Profile with the option to specify which band colors/weight ranges you have

Add "resistance bands" to the "show me only exercises I'm equipped for" under the Home Equipment Profile with the option to specify which band colors/weight ranges you have. So the AI would treat resistance band workouts like using weights and increment the weights (bands) as rep ranges were met/exceeded. I tried setting up custom exercises for bands, but it treats them as bodyweight only (since that is how you have to classify them) and only increases reps. The present setup doesn't work well for capturing which bands are being used without a lot of workout modifications. With more people resorting to home gyms and resistance bands or a combination of them with weights, you would them lay a foundation to implement Dr. Muscle resistance band exercises and workouts. For now, I've had to stop using Dr. Muscle and go back to paper to track my workouts effectively.

Nice to see this getting more and more votes!

Have a setting for how many bands

For 3 bands, have easy / medium / hard difficulty

Move from Easy to Medium once user can do max rep in his range

For now, are we best off treating bands as dumbells, in terms of weight/rep recommendations from the app?  In about 1.5 months, I'll be traveling for a while and bought a nice band+bar set for the journey.  Should I go through and create custom exercises for "Curl (bands)",  "Squat (bands)",  etc to avoid interfering with my progress in free-weight exercises?  Is there a way to temporarily pause my progress in one full program and use another, again to avoid interfering with the first program's progress?

Planned

Joseph, great question. Yes, the best way to go about this right now is to create custom exercises for your bands. Like "Curl (red band)" and "Curl (green band)". Next, swap those into your workouts as needed (tap More next to any exercise, and Swap). With that, your progress on your normal exercises won't be affected. But you'll continue to level up and benefit from all the automations of the app.

By the way, your other option would be to change to the "Buffed with bands" program inside the app. Here's how:

Tap More (bottom bar)

Tap Settings

Tap Change program

Tap Dr. Muscle

Tap Home Gym

After I spend a couple of weeks on "Buffed with bands" due to travel and go back to my previous program, will my progress still be saved?  I know the weights per exercise will, but I was a bit concerned about the application remembering I was in a strength phase, workouts until moving to the next level, etc.  I guess I just want to make sure the application will see this as a temporary hiatus from my main lifting program and not me giving up on it to start something else entirely.

Hi Joseph. All your progress is saved. You'll be able to resume your previous program exactly where you left off. If you have more questions like that, please email us at support@drmuscleapp.com. When you post here, all beta testers get a copy of your email. We're trying to keep this site for feature requests. Thanks!
