Support 25 pound bars and other custom bars in plate calculator

Peter Naughton 5 years ago updated by Carl Juneau, PhD 5 years ago 7

I like the new plate calculator but it only supports 45 pound barbells when there are also 25 pound EZ bars and the sled of a leg press machine that weighs 118 pounds I think that there should be support for other barbells and other sources that require plates.

Thank you,

Peter

Agree with Peter. Smaller barbells are one point but some gym machines (leg press, calf raise, shoulder press, chest press, etc) need plates on both sides without a barbell. My suggestion is to have a sliding scale for the barbell and adjust the plates  accordingly. For machines, the barbell weight could be zero

Barbells are effectively slighty differents in weights.

Customizable bar weight would be fantastic. My gym has odd bar weights and trying do the math during a workout really interrupts the flow.

My gym also uses a 8.5kg ez-bar for some strange reason. Unfortunately, having set increments on the slider and a minimum weight of 20 doesn't let me enter this unusual bar weight.

Got it Ben. I'm creating and voting for a new feature request on your behalf for this (https://muscle.userecho.com/communities/1/topics/188-customizable-bar-weight).

Until then, if you set your account to kg, the minimum is 5 kg, so you could select 10 kg and ignore the 1.5 kg difference. Your long-term progress won't be affected.
