Multiple gym profiles

William Biever 5 years ago updated by Carl Juneau, PhD 4 years ago 3

I would like to see the ability to set up and save multiple gyms / equipment profiles to choose on a daily basis or travel to different gym. For example:

a) Home

b) Work

c) Hotel

To specify what equipment is in each gym, and add/remove equipment at any time, including cardio equipment like spin bike, rowing machine, etc.

Thanks for voting for this feature -- it's in beta! You can now set up different equipment profiles for workouts at the gym, at home, or on the road. To configure them, tap More, Settings, and scroll down. If you have more than one profile set up, the app now asks you automatically which profile you want to load as you open it.

Joseph, I noticed we don't really cover your request with this release (generate workouts on the fly based on equipment available). So, I created another topic for it.

In the meantime, if you're in the beta:

On Android, you can already download the update. On iPhone? You'll have to wait 2-3 days for Apple to approve it. To update:

- Open the store app on your phone
- Search for Dr. Muscle
- Tap update

Not in the beta? Write back if you'd like to get in. Otherwise, you'll see a notification to update inside the app in 7-10 days when the public version comes out.

Now would be a great time to suggest and vote for our next feature. If you'd like to do that, please visit: https://muscle.userecho.com/communities/1-submit-your-feedback/topics#.

Really appreciate your support and advice. Thanks!

Yes, I deal with this too. I usually create similar exercises specific to the different gyms to swap out depending on where I am, because of the variations between equipment (e.g. a lat pulldown for Crunch Fitness separate from a lat pulldown at the work gym). This is the reason I quit using the hard-medium-easy programs because having three versions of an exercise that you have to copy for each gym becomes untenable. This is also why I previously suggested a feature to duplicate an exercise so that making multiple but similar versions is easier.

It would be wonderful if a feature like this had some sort of travel-mode where it does its best to intelligently give you a challenging workout on equipment you've never used before and likely won't again.  Generally if I'm doing a workout at a hotel, I'll likely never see that hotel again and won't have time to build up a smart profile for the equipment available at this one particular location.
