Rest pause and regular sets for individual exercises.

Peter Naughton 6 years ago updated by Carl Juneau, PhD 5 years ago 2

I think that there should be a way to specify if you want to use rest-pause or normal sets sot that it can be customized to specific exercises and not the entire workout because deadlifts work best with rest-pause and something like bicep curls work better with regular sets.

Thanks for voting for this feature!

This was implemented some time ago. You can now choose from normal or rest-pause sets at the exercise level. Tap "..." and "more" to toggle the option on or off.

All the best,

Carl

For new exercises, ask “If you’ve done this before, how many did you do (enter 0 if not)”

Andrew Coven 6 years ago updated by Éric Boucher 6 years ago 1

It’s quite confusing to have the app ask you “How many of this can you do?” - Would be better to ask “If you’ve done this before, how many did you do (enter 0 if not)”

WebAccess to the app.

Éric Boucher 6 years ago updated by Carl Juneau, PhD 5 years ago 2

I would like to suggest an access to the app via the web, something like https://webapp.drmuscleapp.com/ or https://my.drmuscleapp.com/

At fist, it's could be the same as the regular app but it's could be modified with time to allow a better view on stats and accounts details...

Thanks for voting for this feature -- it's done!

From the Web app, you can now:

– Upload your custom program
– View and analyze your exercise data
– Download your history

Click here to access your Dr. Muscle account on the Web: https://my.dr-muscle.com/.

Now would be a great time to suggest and vote for our next feature. If you'd like to do that, please visit: https://muscle.userecho.com/communities/1-submit-your-feedback/topics#.

Really appreciate your support and advice. Thanks!

Social Media Function

Mac Jones 6 years ago updated by Carl Juneau, PhD 5 years ago 4

Some of us benefit from being able to share our accomplishments on social media. Bodyspace has(had?) a nice function that allowed a photo to be taken at the end of a workout and superimpose text that included the date and a summary of the workout. It's not a necessity, but it was a little perk that added motivation to keep going.

Thanks for voting for this feature -- you can now share new records on Facebook:

I'm going to mark this feature as "Started" and leave it open for more customers to vote on before we implement it further.

If you're on Android, you can update now. If you're on iPhone, you'll have to wait 2-3 days for Apple to approve it. To update:

- Open the store app on your phone
- Search for Dr. Muscle
- Tap update

Now would be a great time to suggest and vote for our next feature. If you'd like to do that, please visit: https://muscle.userecho.com/communities/1-submit-your-feedback/topics#.

Add Plyometrics and Resistance band training to the program

Wilbert Philippe 6 years ago updated by Carl Juneau, PhD 4 years ago 1

It would have been awesome if Dr. Juneau was able to add Plyometrics and Resistance band training to the program.

Answer

Thanks for voting for that feature -- it's 50% done! In fact, bands programs have been live for some time in the app now. To do them:

Tap Exercise (bottom bar)
Tap Workouts
Tap Dr. Muscle
Tap Home
Tap Buffed w/ Bands!

Now would be a great time to suggest and vote for our next feature. If you'd like to do that, please visit: https://muscle.userecho.com/communities/1-submit-your-feedback/topics#.

Really appreciate your support and advice. Thanks!

RPE for advanced trainees

Ovi Boeriu 6 years ago 0

I would add for advance trainees a RPE scale insted of the actul messages. I would rate the scale with 8, 8.5, 9, 9.5 and a 10.

Max weight feature

Dustin Barber 7 years ago updated by Carl Juneau, PhD 7 years ago 1

It would be nice to be able to set max weight for exercises. Yesterday the app suggested Lat pulldowns @ 355lbs for 4 sets of 3. The problem is that the machine only goes to 295, and there’s no way to add weights to it. I’ve pinned a 10 pound plate to the machine, but no way to add 60lbs.

Hi Dustin,

Great suggestion. The more people vote for it, the faster we'll implement it.

For now, 2 points:

1- Yesterday, we had a small glitch and had to reboot our servers. Normally, you wouldn't get sets of 3 (5 is the new minimum). Therefore, you'll get lighter weights. We've taken steps to prevent glitches like that in the future.

2- If you don't have enough weight, you can do more reps with the max weight you have. The app won't really mind. Another option would be to change exercise altogether (chin-ups would be good in your case - enter your body weight + use external weights when needed).

I hope this is useful.

Best,

Carl

More details on subscription information screen

Kathleen G. Kidd 7 years ago updated by tomislav stanimirovic 6 years ago 2

The only change I would make is to display more detailed account information, specifically the following two points:

1- “You already have lifetime access” is not accurate since there is a monthly subscription for it. “You have access until <end date>” would be more helpful.

2- Also, the subscription information page says (even after subscribing): “Buy now to continue … after your free trial ends” but should toggle off when either the person is in the trial period or has paid for a subscription; then, displaying “Buy now to continue using Dr. Muscle” could toggle on when appropriate and would be sufficient in both cases.

I don’t know if that’s the sort of feedback you had in mind but, as I said, I think it’s a great app.

Answer
Carl Juneau, PhD 6 years ago

Dear Kathleen,

Thank you for that suggestion.

I've updated the subscription info page. It's now much more accurate, and I'm marking this suggestion as completed.

All the best,

Carl

Detailed Profile

Marc David 7 years ago updated by Carl Juneau, PhD 7 years ago 1

If there was a web version, I'd like the option to input a detailed profile section.  Let the app know I can't do a certain exercise (injury, surgery, recovery, whatever).

Then when it suggests I do a Level 3 workout, it will swap out anything I've listed as a no-go.

One thing an actual Personal Trainer (a good one anyway) will do is evaluate the client based on any current limitations and design a program for them.  Or use any number of standard programs but adjust based on any pre-existing conditions.

If the app somehow knew I couldn't Squat for whatever reason, it might suggest a leg press.  Or the case of somebody who's had back surgery, maybe Deadlifts are out of the question but Dumbbell deadlifts or a Glute Ham Raise might be a better safer option?

Change rest timer sound

Dan Nakamura 7 years ago updated by Carl Juneau, PhD 6 years ago 3

A cooler sound would be better :)

Maybe the option to choose your own?

Answer
Carl Juneau, PhD 6 years ago

The update is now public and available on Android and under review by Apple (give it 2-3 days). To update, visit the app store app on your phone, search for Dr. Muscle, and tap "update". So, I'm marking this as "Completed."

If you get a "Connection error" message after you update, log out and log back in. That should solve it.

Thank for voting for this suggestion. Now would be a good time to suggest and vote for our next features on https://muscle.userecho.com/.

Big cheers,

Carl
