Erasing weight history?

Bob Ruff 1 year ago 0

When I decided to jump into the beta program, I wanted to come in with a clean slate. So I wiped everything and went through the questions again. My workout history is gone and everything else seems in check except it remembers my old weight as uses that as a starting point. I've tried a few times now and the weight just won't reset.

Swap exercises with guided rehab exercises for injured body parts

P P 1 year ago 0

I figured the injury rehab option would accomplish this. Looking for thoughts on this idea for injury rehab mode instead.

This mode would take the body part reported as injured (could add granularity here, i.e., posterior deltoid, traps, etc. instead of shoulder and chest respectively). In the next workout, the app would provide the prompt to substitute with a rehab exercise.

This effort might be a 3 part effort:

- add rehab exercises

- add prompt to substitute exercises for body parts reported as injured

- add an additional prompt to specify specific area of the body part as mentioned earlier (e.g. posterior deltoid)

AI chat is not helpful (yet) - allow turning it off

Noah Alexander 2 years ago updated by Van Young 1 year ago 2

so far this AI chat subtracts value from me for the app.  chat is annoying most of the time says the same Arnold quote, gives stats I am not interested in and doesn't correctly answer many questions. the value add for the user in my opinion is in the programming and it is great but there is so much room for improvement

though I recognize ai like this may eventually make customer service job easier it detracts from the value of the app and makes it seem more glitchy

Tempo

Noah Alexander 2 years ago updated 2 years ago 2

Exercises should come with tempo recommendations that could vary across workouts.  Ideally, when the app can handle different goals like power speed strength or hypertrophy this would impact tempo recommendations

Noah, thanks for your suggestion.

Tempo is a popular concept, but we hesitate to include it in the app because studies have shown it has no impact on hypertrophy. From a meta-analysis (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/25601394/):

Results: Results indicate that hypertrophic outcomes are similar when training with repetition durations ranging from 0.5 to 8 s.

Conclusions: From a practical standpoint it would seem that a fairly wide range of repetition durations can be employed if the primary goal is to maximize muscle growth. Findings suggest that training at volitionally very slow durations (>10s per repetition) is inferior from a hypertrophy standpoint, although a lack of controlled studies on the topic makes it difficult to draw definitive conclusions.

It may have application for strength and power gains though (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8310485/), so I'm keen to see how many people vote for this suggestion. If it raises to the top, I'd be happy to implement it.

Best,

Carl

Fat Burning HIIT style Program

Jason Astacio 2 years ago 0

It would be great to have a prescribed program for fat burning HIIT/Circuit training. Something that would be progressive similar to the other programs in the app.

Assisted Pullups/dips

This has been requested twice already and is a pretty common sense suggestion. Please add in assisted exercises.

Hi Nygel,

I can see you already voted for that suggestion on another post: https://muscle.userecho.com/communities/1/topics/273-support-for-assisted-dips-chin-ups?redirect_to_reply=926#comment-926

I'm going to mark this as a duplicate and close it.

Best,

Tone down the fat shaming

Marky Mark 2 years ago updated by Dominique O 1 year ago 1

I've only had the app for a week or so, and from day 2 it's told me I'm probably gaining fat.

Currently says "You're gaining 0.05kg a day. Since you have been with us for 1 week, you should gain about 0.04 kg a day. So, you're probably gaining fat"

(just a side note, there is a bug there as above it it says "0.5kg gained in 11 days", but the text below says I've only been with you for a week)

As it doesn't have much data from me yet, and of course over a week your weight fluctuates each day a little, it seems premature to suggest I'm gaining fat, and risks the user changing their diet more than they need to.

It should hold off suggesting fat gain, until there is maybe a couple of weeks of data where the averages can be looked at more accurately.

Progress Charts need work

Shaun 2 years ago updated by Marky Mark 2 years ago 1

As much as I appreciate the app doing all of the “behind the scenes” work for me, the progress charts are severely lacking.  So many other fitness apps do a great job of showing the user progress in weight loss/gain as well as strength, volume, etc. over different time periods.  The charts are clunky at best and can really use some graphic design touches.
