Delete / rearrange / add exercices from workouts on the fly

Yohann 6 years ago updated by Carl Juneau, PhD 5 years ago 5

It should be possible to edit Dr.Muscle workouts by deleting exercises we don't want to do and reaarange them in the order we prefer (instead of having to recreate them as custom workouts).

Thanks for voting for this feature -- it's done!

Next time you work out, you'll see a big white + button below your exercises. Tap it to add any number of exercises to your current workout. In our next update, this button will also let you reorder your workouts, and more.

If you're on Android, you can update now. If you're on iPhone, you'll have to wait 2-3 days for Apple to approve it. To update:

- Open the store app on your phone
- Search for Dr. Muscle
- Tap update

Now would be a great time to suggest and vote for our next feature. If you'd like to do that, please visit: https://muscle.userecho.com/communities/1-submit-your-feedback/topics#.

Really appreciate your support and advice. Thanks!

Modify Rep Ranges

Marc David 6 years ago updated by Carl Juneau, PhD 6 years ago 11

I've always had good progress using a weight that is heavy enough to fail between the 15-20 rep range.  It's light enough to alleviate the tendinitis that starts to accumulate with 5-12 heavier lifting.  It's great for blood flow.  It's heavy enough to be effective but light enough not to need a spotter on some exercises.

I'd like an option to adjust the rep range for a workout and let the A.I. do it's magic to suggest what I need to use for the 15-20 range.

Maybe even a Custom Workout but one of the questions would be.. your rep range.  And then let the A.I. work with your custom workout overall settings.

This one was released today! You can update via the Google Play or the App Store app on your phone. The update is live on Android and under review by Apple (give it 1-2 days).

Automate warm-up routines

I look forward to see how the app evolves. Maybe warm up routines?

Answer

This feature has just been released. I'm marking it as completed. If you voted for it: thanks for helping me make this app better. What would you like to see next? Now would be a good time to suggest and vote for another new feature. Top rated features are found here: https://muscle.userecho.com/communities/1-submit-your-feedback/topics#

PS. Here's a copy of the announcement from the blog (http://drmuscleapp.com/news/update-889-warm-up/):

Update 889: Dr. Muscle now tells you how to warm up to boost your power and strength performance

We’ve just released warm-up sets! In a systematic review, McCrary et al. (2015)found “strong research-based evidence” that “warm-ups enhance power and strength performance.” So, you should warm up before each set with light weights. And now, Dr. Muscle tells you exactly how.

This was our #1 top voted customer request. The update is already available on Android and under review by Apple (should be out in 2-3 days).

Up next are rest-pause sets. Also, a bit of bad news: last month, I announced that we would be releasing new features 4x faster in May. That was the plan.

Sadly, our developer who was going to start working full time with us has a major health issue. The kind I hope you never face. He will be leaving in a few weeks, and I’m looking at other options. If you’re a mobile app developer and you love to lift (or if you know one), please get in touch.

For now, until I find a good candidate, I’m learning to code and I plan to write the app myself. I’ve already started, and I’m making good progress. I’ve even added a few lines of code to this release.

Bottom line, what this means for you is that we won’t be releasing new features 4x faster in May. Instead, you can continue to expect about one major feature release a month. Rest-pause sets are still next, and coming soon.

Thanks for your patience and support as we build this app. I really appreciate the support from forward-thinking lifters like you yourself.

Add exercises for each muscle group providing alternatives / categorize exercises by body part

Stéphan Gervais 7 years ago updated by Carl Juneau, PhD 5 years ago 5

1) More exercises

2) Categorize exercises by muscle group

* * *

Fullscreen mode for timer

Maybe have the timer display larger, perhaps only when running. I have bad vision and don't use my glasses at the gym. So it is very hard to see that tiny number in the corner!

Add more training methods

Guillaume R 3 years ago updated by Angelo Azuar 2 years ago 1

Training should be always new, fun and challenging. When you've trained for a long period of time (more than 20 years), you need a lot of variety to stay focus, having results, and the more important thing, still eager to hit the gym because you like your program. This is why I beleive a lot of training methods should be add in Dr. Muscle, like:

(Carl Juneau: the blackjack from the "vidéo du mois")

- Dropsets

- Plyometric

- Superslow (10 sec per rep or even more)

- Pause at the bottom

- Super 21

- 1 and a half rep

- Antagonist supersets

- Excentric only

- Explosive

- Contrast

- Flat

- etc

It would be great if the app had an 'superset' option combining 2 exercises together with optimal rest time for supersers between sets.

somewhere between 90-120sec?

and fully automates and alternate sets between the 2 exercises which you combined trough the superset option.

Show your history for an exercise as you do it

André Ferreira 4 years ago updated by Carl Juneau, PhD 3 years ago 2

I miss the ability to view your history from the last 3-4 workouts in a specific exercise within your current workout menu.

In Dr. Muscle you have to go to history menu then search for the specific exercise you want to check the history.

Attached I’m showing you an image of what I trying to explain. This would improve the app.
