Add plate calculation to “get ready” screen

Ben Cruzan 4 years ago updated by Jim B 2 years ago 3

Rather than clicking “hide” and the plate icon (and losing the view of the countdown), make the plate calculation visible directly on the countdown screen. Something like the image attached.

Thanks for voting for this feature -- it's done! You will now see an icon with "Show plates" on your fullscreen timer when you do a plate exercise.

This is version 1197. If you're on Android, you can update now. If you're on iPhone, you'll have to wait 2-3 days for Apple to approve it. To update:

- Open the store app on your phone
- Search for Dr. Muscle
- Tap update

Now would be a great time to suggest and vote for our next feature. If you'd like to do that, please visit: https://muscle.userecho.com/communities/1-submit-your-feedback/topics#.

Really appreciate your support and advice. Thanks!

Tell me the calories I’ve used during a workout

Mark Heuvelman 5 years ago updated by Carl Juneau, PhD 4 years ago 4

Would DrMuscle be able to tell me the calories I’ve used during a workout? It knows the sets, reps and weight so I think it would be able to do this?

Answer
Carl Juneau, PhD 4 years ago

Thanks for voting for this feature -- it's in beta!

Dr. Muscle now shows you your calories at the end of each workout, and on your History page (coming soon). Note that counting calories can help you burn fat, but that you must be careful not to eat too much to do so, even if you work out hard.

If you're in the beta:

On Android, you can already download the update. On iPhone? You'll have to wait 2-3 days for Apple to approve it. To update:

- Open the store app on your phone

- Search for Dr. Muscle

- Tap update

Not in the beta? Write back if you'd like to get in. Otherwise, you'll see a notification to update inside the app in 7-10 days when the public version comes out.

Specify rep ranges for different workout days and exercises

Peter Naughton 6 years ago updated by Carl Juneau, PhD 5 years ago 2

I think that the app needs the ability to specify rep ranges for different workout days and for different exercises instead of having to make the changes on the fly so that its more permanent because  I have a program that is for Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and Monday is heavy and should be lower rep ranges and Wednesday is light and should be high rep ranges and Friday is moderate and should be somewhere in the middle, and exercises like deadlifts should have some restrictions on rep ranges to avoid injury but some exercises can be higher and some you may want to do a 5X5 with just as and example.

Thanks for voting for this feature -- it's done!

Previously, you could customize reps at the global and exercise levels. Now, you can also customize reps at the workout level. To do that, tap "..." and "more" next to any workout.

To download the new update:

- Open the store app on your phone
- Search for Dr. Muscle
- Tap update

Offline access

remonemundle 6 years ago updated by Éric Boucher 5 years ago 4

Creating an offline version of the app that can update at intervals might be a good idea. I still continue to struggle with spotty internet connectivity because my gym is far down below ground level. I still am committed to using the app though because I like it so much. It comes at a price.... occasionally I have to check out of the gym, go outside and check back in for an exercise to update!!

Answer
Carl Juneau, PhD 5 years ago

Thanks for voting for this feature! Dr. Muscle now supports offline access. Now you only need to connect before and at the end of your workout (you can even connect before you leave the house and when you return)!

Here’s how:

  1. Open your workout
  2. Open each exercise and tap “Begin exercise”
  3. Navigate between exercises by tapping “Superset”
  4. Once all your exercises are loaded, you can get offline, work out, and save your sets
  5. Once you’ve saved all your sets, get back online and “Finish and save” each exercise

The update is already available to all users on Android and under final review by Apple (give it 2-3 days). To update, open the app store on your phone, search for Dr. Muscle, and tap "update".

Garmin watch integration

Kevin Gale 3 years ago updated by Michael Tijerina 3 years ago 1

“You can now save sets and workouts on your watch.”

I would want to see the same capabilities and more :)

The real dream, is to start and finish all the workout. With the timer countdown and so on...

I also, wonders if a cardio feature could be included in Dr.Muscle; I’m referring to reports. If there was an integrated cardio watch that sent info to the Dr.M app. We could see cardio fitness etc. I also would include cardio recording through the works out. Not just the HIIT section. As I do switch up weights and resistance with speed reps etc.which puts my heart rate up.

Having a cell or tablet. Is great. However one has to put it in a safe place, away from weights and off the floor; and go to and from the device. If you’re in a public gym, which I’m not! It might be more of a challenge. Even just to hear the “ding” lol. The watch would vibrate and ding!

Hence why, I wear a watch. It’s with me! The garmin has 100’s of Apps. Wish Dr.Muscle was one :)

Cheers,

Kevin Gale

See total weekly volume (sets) per muscle/muscle group

Philip Skogsberg 5 years ago updated by Carl Juneau, PhD 11 months ago 5

I would like to be able to see how much volume I'm doing on a weekly basis per muscle group, or even per muscle. So I can more easily compare and calculate volume overtime.

Answer
Carl Juneau, PhD 4 years ago

I'm happy to announce the official launch of our new volume dashboard! See it live at https://dashboard.dr-muscle.com/. Since beta, Ross Coundon has updated them. They load much faster, and now you can view each body part by kg or lb, choose your start and end dates, see a trendline for your sets and 1RM, and more. Big thx to Ross for his help with the dashboard. It's open source, so if you'd like to contribute, get in touch.
