
Resume Workout
There are several times when I've been in the middle of a workout and either the app crashes (rare) or somehow I've navigated away from the current screen elsewhere and am unable to get back into that workout.
I'd like a resume workout feature. It knows that I started a workout and haven't yet saved. If I click Resume, it will get me back to the most recent exercise and saved set.

Exercises you have already finished (saved) show a green checkmark next to them. That way, you know. Checkmarks don't disappear until you "Finish and save" and workout (bottom button).

Chat with your AI coach

In May, we raised just under $10,000 on Kickstarter.
The first big new feature we promised is the Web app.
The second big improvement we promised is to make the app "as easy to use as a dishwasher". As we plan ahead for this one, I need your help. Would you like to be able to chat with your AI coach inside Dr. Muscle?

Estimate muscle fiber makeup and adjust
This would definitely be a finishing touches type addition to the app but would be interesting. Since the app tracks performance and reps so closely it might be able to notice if a lifter progresses better with higher or lower reps and start smart adjusting to the lifter’s personal physiology. While this would probably not offer a huge advantage over random rep undulation it would be something I haven’t seen before.

To recap:
- Most muscles in your body have a fairly even split of fast-twitch and slow-twitch muscle fibers; very few muscles are (on average) incredibly fast-twitch or slow-twitch dominant.
- There’s not a practical test to know whether a particular muscle is composed primarily of fast-twitch or slow-twitch fibers. The methods you’d typically use in a gym setting (seeing how many reps you’d get with a particular percentage of your 1rm) have virtually no predictive power.
- The idea that you should train muscles differently based on their predominant muscle fiber type comes from the notion that fast-twitch muscle fibers respond best to heavy weights and low reps, and that slow-twitch muscle fibers respond best to light weights and high reps. Evidence is still very mixed on this point – it’s not yet clear that particular training styles specifically target fast-twitch or slow-twitch fibers in the first place.
- Even if there was good evidence for fiber type specific hypertrophy, and even if there was a good, practical test to know a muscle’s fiber type breakdown, it still wouldn’t change the general recommendation to keep training that muscle with a variety of rep ranges.
With that said, it may still be possible to find out if a lifter progresses better with high or low reps and to adjust to the lifter’s personal physiology, as Barrett suggested. But I'd be really surprised if that had to do with fibre type.

Add exercise During a workout
I would like to have an Add Exercise option during a Dr Muscle workout.
I pick Upper Body 6a. I finish the prescribed exercises and sets for bench press. But I want to do chest flyes prior to lay pull downs.
Love to hit add exercise. Select chest flyes. And let Dr Muscle add that without its usual prescription for weights sets and reps.
Add more volume on the fly.

Select the number of sets
I would love to be able to cap the number of sets & let the app figure out the number of reps and weight for growth. As some studies show, you can grow muscle with 1-2 sets (& warm up). On the days I don’t have as much time for a 5 or more sets in the workout, I would like to cap the number of sets to 2 or 3 Thus, I could get a workout done even faster than rest-pause if I combine rest-pause, supersets, and only doing a warm-up and two working sets. Any chance our AI trainer can calculate growth when the sets are constrained?

Open settings and toggle on quick mode to get 2 work sets for all exercises. That way, your workouts should last max 30 minutes.

Rest pause and regular sets for individual exercises.
I think that there should be a way to specify if you want to use rest-pause or normal sets sot that it can be customized to specific exercises and not the entire workout because deadlifts work best with rest-pause and something like bicep curls work better with regular sets.

This was implemented some time ago. You can now choose from normal or rest-pause sets at the exercise level. Tap "..." and "more" to toggle the option on or off.

For new exercises, ask “If you’ve done this before, how many did you do (enter 0 if not)”
It’s quite confusing to have the app ask you “How many of this can you do?” - Would be better to ask “If you’ve done this before, how many did you do (enter 0 if not)”

WebAccess to the app.
I would like to suggest an access to the app via the web, something like https://webapp.drmuscleapp.com/ or https://my.drmuscleapp.com/
At fist, it's could be the same as the regular app but it's could be modified with time to allow a better view on stats and accounts details...

Social Media Function
Some of us benefit from being able to share our accomplishments on social media. Bodyspace has(had?) a nice function that allowed a photo to be taken at the end of a workout and superimpose text that included the date and a summary of the workout. It's not a necessity, but it was a little perk that added motivation to keep going.
