Historical Reps

Kal Kincaid 5 years ago updated by Carl Juneau, PhD 5 years ago 1

I’m currently doing 1 warmup set, and two working sets per exercise.  In set #2 it shows a reminder / target of previous workout weight and reps.  However, this isn’t showing for set #3.  Seeing the previous rep count is motivating.  Can I change a setting to see this, or is it in the programming? Thanks

Bug Report in app feature

Derek Casari 5 years ago 0

Maybe we could get a "File a bug report" button in each exercise, whereby that would take you to a form. It would pre fill your member info, snag a log of the program for the developers, and give the user a comment area where you can describe, while fresh in your mind, the details of the issue. Perhaps be able to "browse" to a screenshot you have taken, if applicable. Then a "send" button which sends it to you guys. Thoughts? BTW on the software pgms I was involved with (Pro Tools et al) this was commonplace. Really eased the reporting of issues and encouraged feedback.

Hi guys,

Turns out 5 users were affected and one sent us a video. We found and fixed the issue and taken steps to prevent similar issues in the future. Apple is reviewing our beta update as we speak (usually takes 1-2 days).

If you don't have access to beta builds, you can join and get the update now (if you're on Android) or as soon as Apple approves it (if you're on iPhone). Otherwise, it could take up to a week. To get the latest beta version of the app on your phone, follow the instructions below. Truly sorry about the issue.

Thanks for your patience,

Carl

If you're on Android read this, if not scroll down to iPhone:

1- Opt into the beta here: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.drmaxmuscle.dr_max_muscle
2- Update to the latest version on your phone using the Google Play app:

Google Play >
Search for Dr. Muscle >
Tap "Update"

From that point on, the app should automatically update to the latest (beta) version when we release one.

If you're on iPhone:

1- Download TestFlight (Apple's app for beta testers): https://itunes.apple.com/app/testflight/id899247664?mt=8

2- Opt into the beta by clicking this link on your iPhone: https://testflight.apple.com/join/qkjapYet

Tap this blue button:

3- Open TestFlight on your phone, and tap "update" next to Dr. Muscle

When you update, if you see a warning that you may lose your data in the original app, ignore it. Your data is safe on our secure server at Microsoft and you will not lose it. From this point on, you'll get emails from Apple when new versions are available to test.

Custom Exercise Variations (With Custom Labels, and new calculated max)

Jacob Jone 5 years ago updated by Carl Juneau, PhD 5 years ago 1

Occasionally, I like to change the way I complete exercises, be it slowing release, changing grip, changing form, because of something I learned etc; this all changes max rep and calculated weight for that same exercise. It would be nice to be able to let the app know exercise variation (with custom labels and new calculated maxes), and have that variation carry over to the next workouts.

Good news! This feature is already inside the app. To create a custom exercise, do this:

Exercises (bottom nav) >
[+] button (bottom right)

Next, to swap it inside a workout on the fly, tap "..." and "swap" next to any exercise.

Thanks for your suggestion -- hope this makes sense. I'm marking it as completed.

Duplicate exercises to make easy, medium versions, etc.

Glen Acord 5 years ago 0

Some workout plans have as many as three levels of effort; hard, medium, easy. If you swap a supplied exercise for a custom exercise in one of these plans, you'll need to create three versions of the same custom exercise (i.e. hard, medium, and easy). There needs to be a way to duplicate a custom exercise so that all you have to do is edit the name to have the appropriate version to swap into your workout. Also, this would make it much easier when you need to create a custom exercise for a different (but similar) machine at the gym, or exercise variation, since the weight and reps often aren't comparable between variations.

Add a "Begin warm-up" button

Derek Casari 6 years ago 0

I'm still having trouble with interpreting the first screen, where it says Warm up reps & weight. I hit "Begin Exercise" then it says 3 sets of "x" weight. (Prior screen gives rest interval of 50 secs). So I just do the 3 sets, keeping an eye on the time myself. This is where I think there should be a "Begin warm up" button at this screen. It would then initiate the timer clock.

You would do the 3 warm up sets and begin the actual exercise.

Thx

Derek

Weight increment profiles

Benjamin Clifford 6 years ago 0

Right now, custom weight increments can be set for each exercise. Because a lot of the same equipment is used for the different exercises, it would be great to also have custom weight increment profiles you could assign to the exercises. It would save a lot of time and allow the increments for all of the exercises that use the same type of equipment to be adjusted at the same time if needed.

Change order of deload / extra set notifications

Glen Acord 6 years ago 0

Hey Carl,

One thing I noticed today is when starting an an exercise, I got a message like, "It's been six days since you last did this exercise. You should be recovered. Add an extra set?"

So I said "yes" then got another message like, "Today's exercise is a deload". So these two messages seem inconsistent, like they're independent.

Would love just swapping the order so that first it tells me "Today is a deload" (signalling "easy") followed by "add an extra set?" tells me it's a deload with an extra set, so still easy but just a little harder than usual.

Resume Workout

Marc David 6 years ago updated 6 years ago 4

There are several times when I've been in the middle of a workout and either the app crashes (rare) or somehow I've navigated away from the current screen elsewhere and am unable to get back into that workout.

I'd like a resume workout feature.  It knows that I started a workout and haven't yet saved.  If I click Resume, it will get me back to the most recent exercise and saved set.

Exercises you have already finished (saved) show a green checkmark next to them. That way, you know. Checkmarks don't disappear until you "Finish and save" and workout (bottom button).
