Add a "Begin warm-up" button

Derek Casari 5 years ago 0

I'm still having trouble with interpreting the first screen, where it says Warm up reps & weight. I hit "Begin Exercise" then it says 3 sets of "x" weight. (Prior screen gives rest interval of 50 secs). So I just do the 3 sets, keeping an eye on the time myself. This is where I think there should be a "Begin warm up" button at this screen. It would then initiate the timer clock.

You would do the 3 warm up sets and begin the actual exercise.

Thx

Derek

Weight increment profiles

Benjamin Clifford 5 years ago 0

Right now, custom weight increments can be set for each exercise. Because a lot of the same equipment is used for the different exercises, it would be great to also have custom weight increment profiles you could assign to the exercises. It would save a lot of time and allow the increments for all of the exercises that use the same type of equipment to be adjusted at the same time if needed.

Change order of deload / extra set notifications

Glen Acord 5 years ago 0

Hey Carl,

One thing I noticed today is when starting an an exercise, I got a message like, "It's been six days since you last did this exercise. You should be recovered. Add an extra set?"

So I said "yes" then got another message like, "Today's exercise is a deload". So these two messages seem inconsistent, like they're independent.

Would love just swapping the order so that first it tells me "Today is a deload" (signalling "easy") followed by "add an extra set?" tells me it's a deload with an extra set, so still easy but just a little harder than usual.

Resume Workout

Marc David 5 years ago updated 5 years ago 4

There are several times when I've been in the middle of a workout and either the app crashes (rare) or somehow I've navigated away from the current screen elsewhere and am unable to get back into that workout.

I'd like a resume workout feature.  It knows that I started a workout and haven't yet saved.  If I click Resume, it will get me back to the most recent exercise and saved set.

Exercises you have already finished (saved) show a green checkmark next to them. That way, you know. Checkmarks don't disappear until you "Finish and save" and workout (bottom button).

Add per set notes during the exercise that show in the log

Barrett Roberts 6 years ago 0

Would be very nice to be able to record notes on each set of the exercises and have them reflected in the workout history as well as a main comment on the exercise itself.   I’ve used this a lot in my paper journals to make specific comments to myself on how a set felt during the workout.

Save notes for workouts in the workout log / history

Might be worth adding notes to the bottom of the workout log in history going forward. Easier to review any notes.

With rest/pause sets during the third set, warn when weight/rep combination will lead to deload in next workout

Sebastian Stolzenberg 6 years ago updated 6 years ago 4

This happened to me a few times, because I had to adjust the weight to match my PowerBlock dumbbells. Sometimes I have to choose between going down 500g to 2kg and going up 3kg or more. I tried to choose the smaller difference, which lead to a decrease and an estimated loss in max strength.

It would be nice if, when changing the weight,

 * The app could adjust (or propose to adjust) the reps accordingly, or

* Pre-calculate and display the estimated change in max strength, or

* Just warn when the selected weight/rep combination is too low (and maybe also when it is too high)

Hi Sebastian,

You can avoid this issue completely by setting custom increments at the global or exercise level. To set them at the global level (for all exercises), check the settings menu.

To set them at the exercise level (those will override global settings), tap "..." next to an exercise, tap "more", then tap "use custom increments".

So, in a way, the app is already able to prevent the issue you faced. It will compute exactly what you need to keep increasing your 1RM using only the increments you have available. I hope that make sense.

On another note, I train with Powerblocks at home too. Really like them!

All the best,

Carl

Kettlebell workout

I don't know if muscle building is possible with kettlebell only workout, but when access to a gym is difficult due to time schedules and space is limited, I find that kettlebells go a long way. Not to mention that is one of my favourite workouts.

So, since there is a bodyweight workout, I took the liberty of asking if there's any possibility to see a kettlbel workout in the future.

Thank you!

Thank you for your suggestion Jeremy. We already have a similar one with a few votes here: https://muscle.userecho.com/communities/1/topics/26-account-for-longer-periods-of-rest-time-off-between-workouts

I've voted on that one for you. I'm closing off this one to prevent duplicates.

Carl

Ability to rate form per set from 1-5 and consider this when estimating 1RM

Artin Entezarjou 6 years ago updated by Barrett Roberts 6 years ago 2

I've noticed myself sacrificing form in order to keep progressing according to the apps demands. Would be good if the app rewarded good form by lowering estimated 1RM when sets are done with bad form.

Answer

Hi Artin,

I'll weigh in here: you should use good form at all times. If you can't do all the reps with good form, stop, and enter what you did. The app will adjust.

Doing more reps with bad form is asking for trouble in the long run. Don't do it.
