Weight changes in options?

HectorS 2 years ago updated by Carl Juneau, PhD 2 years ago 1

Hello, I didn't want to go through 45 pages of what has been posted. Maybe it has been mentioned, but an option to change the weights to a certain weight. For example, I have plates ranging from 2.5 lbs to 5, 10, 25, 35, and 45 in my gym. There is no 20lb plate. So what I do is use 2 x 10lbs weights... Just little things.

Hi Hector,

You can edit your equipment to include only the plates you have. Here's how:

Tap Settings (bottom bar)

Tap Change equipment

Under Gyms, toggle on Activate profile

Enter what you have

That way, you'll only get weight recommendations that match your increments.

I'm going to mark this as completed. If you have more questions like that, please get in touch at support@drmuscleapp.com.

Thanks!

Carl

Simmetry exercise reps

For simmetry exercises (ie. like cross body crunch…) is it possible to say clearly if the reps are per side or total?

Alert when weight is different

Adrian Porter 2 years ago 0

I've had the following happen a few times.  I go through my workout and needed to change the weight a few times.  Example, bench recommends 6 reps at 145.  I think that I switch it to 135, but in reality I switch it to 1435 or something like that.  I complete my workout.  The next time bench press comes up, it's now recommending 5 reps at 450 pounds or 635 pounds!

I then have to go back through my history to find where the data error was, correct it, and then it recommends a realistic value.

It would be nice if the weight or reps or something is outside of a certain percentage of normal that the app alerts so I can confirm or correct the problem.

Pyramid set scheme gives too many reps

Nygel 2 years ago 0

When setting an exercise to a pyramid scheme, the reps get ridiculously high. Example, when I tried setting deadlifts, where I'm lifting 300+ pounds, my very first set was 34 reps.  For incline press, where I'm doing over 150 pounds, my first set was 66 reps!  I changed the rep range to 3-5 which helped, but my first set was still 28 reps, which is entirely too many.  If you set a rep range, say 5-15, the app should keep you within that range. First set - w weight at 15 reps, x weight at 12 reps, y weight at 8 reps, z weight at 5 reps.  Reverse pyramid scheme is a little better but still gives higher reps well outside the range. This should be fixed.

Rep ranges

Bruce Wayne 2 years ago updated 2 years ago 1

The app should show a range of reps instead of giving a number like 10 it should show you 10-15 and we should be able to set the rep ranges for each exercise as well as the number of sets. Or at the minimum there should be an option to do that or to have one number for reps and sets. Wouldn’t you agree that it makes things more manageable?

enter weight range for dumbbells in home option

Wayne 2 years ago updated by Carl Juneau, PhD 2 years ago 1

I am sure most folks dont have the mass of dumbbells you would have at a commercial gym.  I run into this as well.  When setting up home or other options (i.e. hotel gym), there should be a way to set a check box of available dumbbells.  This would be helpful based on the workout you are doing to have the app determine set/rep ranges based on the load calculation and historical performance.

Hi Wayne,

I'm happy to saw we already have a setting for that. Here's how you can configure your home gym:

Tap Settings (bottom bar)

Tap Change equipment

Tap Home

Toggle on Activate profile

Enter the dumbbells you have under Dumbbells

And you should be good to go!

If you need more help with that, please email us at support@drmuscleapp.com.

Best,

rehab body part option

Wayne 2 years ago updated by Carl Juneau, PhD 2 years ago 1

I recently had total knee replacement and have diligently been doing upper body, and now I am shifting back to non body weight exercises for my legs.  After two months post surgery I am disproportionately behind on leg capability.  Have you considered a recovery/rehab option that a user can check for a bodypart and then opt out when appropriate?

Hi Wayne,

We already have a similar suggestion in our top 5. I'm going to copy your comments there. I suggest you vote for that one!

Feedback on which muscle group fatigued first for any given exercise

Gareth O 2 years ago 0

1. Is it possible to have feedback on which muscle group fatigued first for any given exercise eg: grip strength fails before legs on rdl.

2. If this is possible then it would be amazing if the program could receive this feedback and suggest a potential swap out or addition focus exercise.

Swapping out mobility exercises

Shaun 2 years ago 0

Currently, if you want to swap out an exercise, the app only provides a list of exercises for that body part, but not a list of ones that would be most relevant to the one you’re swapping out.  Even more importantly, swapping out mobility exercises is tougher because it just brings up a list of weightlifting exercises, not stretches or mobility movements.
