Please, allow to specify custom subcategories (e.g. gym/home/physiotherapy). Currently, adding “my exercises” only creates a potentially huge, uncategorized exercise list.

Drag and drop exercise order

Rinaldo B 1 year ago 0

In order to change the exercise order I currently have to edit workout go through two pages, drag & drop and then confirm/save. Let’s do this drag & drop from the main exercise page, on the fly, without having to edit the whole workout (only exercise order).

I am aware I can jump to another exercise (e.g. if a machine is already in use) but this feature is different from #1, plus #1 would allow to track the exercise order for that specific session/workout.

AI comments after workout

Dominique O 1 year ago updated 1 year ago 2

On occasion, the app suggests a lighter load for an exercise than in the previous workout. It says “Deload”. I have several questions here:

1. I’ve only been doing the workout in question for 2 weeks. Is it normal that there is already a deload?

2. If I follow the recommendation and perform the sets with the lower reps and/or weight, the app then says that my strength went down upon completion of the exercise. I may be misunderstanding what’s happening, but that sounds quite contrary. This happened a few days ago, and upon completion of the entire workout, the AI summary said that the exercise in question was my worst lift :-(.

3. Today, the same thing happened, and the AI summary said that my volume progress has not changed in the past few days. I could have lifted more. I’m not understanding why the “deload” comes into the picture.

Could someone please clarify what’s happening? Thank you.

Hi Dominique,

I'm sorry to hear about your experience with the app suggesting a deload at what seems the wrong time. It can certainly be frustrating to see strength or volume go down. But it's important to understand that progress is not always linear, and that deloading may be the best course of action at times.

You can learn more at deloads at https://dr-muscle.com/deload. The app will recommend them when your performance has gone down or when it's stuck to prevent overtraining and injury.

Following the recommendation to deload by reducing reps and/or weight temporarily may help your body recover and come back stronger in the long run, even if it may seem counterintuitive initially.

If the app suggests a deload but you feel like you could have lifted more, you can always cancel it. Just tap the alert icon on your first work set (that says deload) and tap Cancel deload. Further, you can also always make any exercise harder by tapping the three dots next to it and Challenge.

If you have more questions about the app or potential bugs to report, please get in touch at support@drmuscleapp.com. We try to keep this site for features requests only.

Thank you for choosing Dr. Muscle!

Standing cable chop video?

Dominique O 1 year ago updated by Carl Juneau, PhD 1 year ago 1

I’m new to the standing cable chop exercise. I am wondering about the accompanying video because

1) it doesn’t really illustrate the same movement as the animation, and

2) when I tried to execute as explained in the video, I found that I was mostly working the triceps of the arm closest to the weights.

In comparison, this video shows the movement of the animation. When I tried it, I found that I was activating my abs and not so much my arms. (I chose that video arbitrarily among a myriad similar videos on Youtube.) What gives?

Thank you.

Hi Dominique,

Thanks for reporting that issue. Indeed, you should be doing the variation that engages your abs the most. We're going to review and fix, and someone from the team will be in touch by email.

Best,

Carl

Include videos on how to do exercise inside app

Adam F 1 year ago updated by Carl Juneau, PhD 4 months ago 1

Some things I find a bit difficult such as the videos on how to do an exercise. Being taken to an external video causes issues with my app where the video will keep playing sound even when I'm back on the app. I have to restart the app to fix it.

[Ed note: If possible include videos on how to do exercise inside app.]

Good news! We've resolved this in a recent update. The app no longer takes you to an external video (it opens as an overlay inside the app instead for a smoother experience ). If you still run into issues with audio, please email us at support@drmuscleapp.com.

Option to hide / display the status bar

Stephen P 1 year ago 0

The app shouldn't hide the status bar (I'm on Android, not sure about iOS). While I'm exercising, I often have to keep track of notifications coming in, or I need to check what time it is. If covering the status bar is desired by some people, it should be made an option that can be enabled in Settings.

Toggles in Setting to turn off weight/fat sections and "cal/day to build muscle" from Home page

This is for folks who are just using the app for lifting and do not care/want to see calorie intake goals or weight/fat loss info.

Treadmill incline

The only feedback I would provide is related to cardio. In my ideal scenario, specifically related to the treadmill, I would love for the app to tell me the incline and speed I should be running at.
