Restrict rep range for some exercises

Nick Monastiriotis 8 years ago updated by Michael Robards 8 years ago 2

There are a few exercises, like, for example, the Deadlift (or the Olympic Lifts and derivatives) which is a bit risky (for lack of a better term) to use for, say, more than 6 reps (due to technique, etc)?  Could a distinction be made perhaps for such exercises?  Not sure...

I just did some Deadlifts yesterday (with a ridiculously low load, just exercising, but that's not the point, lol) and saw 11 reps (which is fine based on the DUP, of course), but it just stuck with me...

Inconsistency in new exercise setup

Nick Monastiriotis 8 years ago updated by Carl Juneau, PhD 8 years ago 6

When I enter a new exercise of mine, it asks for a 6RM. If I ignore it (e.g., I'll test it next time I go to the gym) and click on this new exercise straight on the workout while in the gym, it still asks for what I have done in the last 3 workouts (and not the 6RM question, I mean).  Is this correct or a bug-like?

Custom Exercise Improvement Suggestions

Satyajit Nashikkar 2 days ago updated 2 days ago 0
  1. Create 3 variants automatically for a new custom exercise ( easy, medium, normal/hard)
  2. Automatically create linkages between the variants so the program can recognize and autoadjust them for easy and medium days
  3. Ability to use an existing exercise as a template to create a new custom exercise.
  4. When an exercise in a program is swapped with custom exercise, weights for the sets to be automatically updated for all variants of that exercise in the program, as long as the user completes the first exercise for that program.
  5. Custom exercises are grouped by muscle group.
  6. periodically harvest user created custom exercise and assess whether to create them as part of the base set of exercises OOTB.

Edit warmups prior to starting workout

Shane 2 days ago 0

It would be nice to be able to view the warmup routine and make edits prior to starting the workout.

Hi Chris!

Thanks for your suggestion. It's easy to skip or cancel rest times—just tap "Hide" at the bottom of the fullscreen timer.

You can also tap the timer icon (top-right) during any workout and toggle off "Fullscreen" for a cleaner, quicker setup between exercises.

Resume Saved workout

Ralph 1 week ago 0

A 'Resume Saved Workout?' popup option. Background: Some lunchtimes i dont finish all exercises in time. The app allows me to Save. But i havent found an efficient means of getting back to a saved but unfinished workout. To date ai and victoria havent been able to get me easily back to an unfinished workout. A pop up would give me the choice to finish off first before starting my new days exercise.

Android Menu hidden - make it permanent

Oskar W 1 month ago updated by Carl Juneau, PhD 1 month ago 1

The android menu is hidden by the app. I need to swipe up from the bottom to access it. This is awkward and often leads to accidental buttons pressed. It would be better if it was permanent, like it is on most apps. At least a setting to turn off "full screen" or what it's called. No need to use that extra centimeter of screen space in this app.

Hi Oskar,

Thanks for reporting that issue. We test quite a bit on Android here (I'm on Android myself) and I have to say, we've never seen this issue before. It's also the first time it's being reported in almost 10 years of Dr. Muscle.

I'm going to leave this open in case other users face the same issue. In the meantime, please review the solutions below. For more help, email us at support@drmuscleapp.com. Dozens of users get an email notification when we post here, so I aim to keep those at a minimum.

Thanks so much for choosing Dr. Muscle,

Carl

Completed

Ability to program and remind for a rolling, tri-day workout schedule.

Grant I 2 months ago updated by Carl Juneau, PhD 2 months ago 1

I have a full body program I designed that consists of 5 workouts for the fortnight. A workout to be completed every 72 hours optimising recovery and hitting each muscle group 2.5 times a week. It would be great to be able to have a rolling schedule for reminders and training prompts.

Hi Grant,

Thanks for your suggestion. Good news! You can already do this in the app. Simply create a custom program with your workout days, and open it every 72 hours to start that day's workout. Workouts in the app are not tied to days of the week.

You can upload your custom program online in a CSV file at https://my.dr-muscle.com/ or create in the app via Settings and then Change program.

I'm going to mark this as complete for now.

Cheers,

Carl

Workout suggestion for HIIT

Aurel 2 months ago 0

Hello Dr. Muscle,

It would be great to have workout suggestion for HIIT on the same principle of weightlifting. I absolutely love your app and the fact that I have the impression that there’s a coach behind me but that stop when I’m at the HIIT part. Thank you
