Message at start of workout to say if full effort or not
I think a brief message at the start to estate that you’re expecting the workout to be full effort or a little bit easier so that the participant doesn’t over train. Perhaps a colour code system. Blue - do as you’re instructed. Red - go all out.
Core Workout Options at End of Workout
I think being able to turn on core workouts at the end of your workout (just like you can for cardio) would be awesome. Just like with cardio, you could set it to a 5 min or 10 min additional workout. Currently my workout program has little to no core workouts so I have to do my own exercises outside the app.
Increasing the equipment to include 2 barbells. For example a 15 pound and a 45 pound bar.
Being a female, on upper days, I seem to use my 15 pound bar more. On leg days, I uses my 45 pound bar more. It would be great to have both bars in the equipment section.
Improve plate calculator with custom weights
One thing that would make the user interface better would be to show the actual weight if the custom weightsIn the barbell weight "calculator" instead of just CUSTOM.
Adjust workout time before starting a workout
Another app's feature that allowed me to adjust my workout time just before starting my workout was very useful. The option was right at the top, just one click and I could alter that days' training time to accommodate my available time. This feature was particularly useful on days when I was not feeling up to a full workout or when I was under a time constraint. With Dr. Muscle, this feature may exist but I haven't come across it yet. I do see I can make the training period change within the settings/program but I don't know if that is a 'global setting' or a 'next workout setting.' For this feature, I only want to change the next workout. Again, Dr. Muscle may have this feature front and center but I'm not seeing it; it's not intuitive.
Voice announcer is wrong
When you get asked if an exercise was hard or you could have done 1-2 reps more and you say it was "very hard", the app auto-lowers the next number of reps.
So far, so good.
The announcer voice, however, doesn't appear to know about about this lowering and still announces you should do the number of reps before the lowering. This is confusing and wrong because the app will still say "4 reps", for example, but the announcer voice will say *3.. 2.. 1.. 5 reps".
Missing exercise animations
Some exercises have very helpful animations of what I’ll call “Mr. Muscle” to show the movements for an exercise. For some exercises, however, those are missing completely. Each and every exercise in the app should have such an animation. This inconsistency isn't great.
Examples of exercises where animations are missing:
- Plate row
- Barbell shoulder press
- Standing barbell triceps extension
This is just from from my workout program. There could be far more exercises missing an animation.
Hi guys,
You are correct: we have hundreds of exercises in the app, and they don't all have videos because that would make the app quite a hefty download. You can, however, tap "..." and "Video instructions" next to all exercises to learn more.
I can see this is getting more and more votes. We'll be happy to look into ways to fit more videos into the app (perhaps at a smaller size) when this becomes the top-requested feature.
Thanks for your feedback!
Carl
Garmin Connect
Surely is would be advantageous to sync Dr Muscle with Garmin Connect considering this product is very popular and provides lots of health data that is useful.
Paul,
Good news! Another suggestion for Garmin already has some votes (https://muscle.userecho.com/communities/1/topics/317-garmin-watch-integration). Please add your vote to that suggestion so we build it faster for you.
I'm going to close this duplicate for now.
All the best,
Carl
More goal options beyond bodyweight in
I wish that there were more options to set goals. For me. Body weight is too blunt. I would imagine it's the same for most people in this app. It depends on what you're trying to accomplish. For example, strength, bulking, cutting, maintaining, etc. I wish I could set a goal for bench press, chin-ups, 1 km run, broad jump distance, etc.
dedicated workout program focused on improving VO2 Max
Very much interested in improving my VO2 Max. The HIIT work that can be added to a workout is helpful but does not formalize a program dedicated to improving VO2 Max.
